The story behind FreeFolio

FreeFolio came from my own experience as a freelance web designer and developer in the UK. Freelancing isn't what it used to be. It's more competitive, less stable, and in a lot of cases, harder to find decent work. If you're experienced, you end up competing with low-cost global platforms or people overselling what they can do. It's crowded and it's not always obvious who actually knows their stuff.

On the other side, clients have it just as bad. It's difficult to know who's real, who's based in the UK, and who can actually deliver. There's a lot of guesswork, and people end up wasting time, money, or both.

FreeFolio is my way of cutting through that. Every profile is manually checked. Everyone on the platform is a real UK-based freelancer with actual experience. No inflated profiles, no pretending, no hiding behind stock portfolios.

The idea is simple, make it easier to find good people, and make it easier for good people to be found. It's UK-focused for a reason. Working with someone who understands the market, speaks your language, and is in the same time zone just makes things smoother.

For freelancers, it's kept deliberately simple. It's free to use and it always will be. Freelancing is tough enough as it is and adding another monthly cost doesn't really help anyone doing the work. FreeFolio isn't built to take from freelancers. It's there to give them a proper place to show what they do, get seen, and connect with real opportunities without jumping through hoops.
